Introduction To The GCPD
Loren Di Iorio 23rd Jan 1999

Here's a list of all the established cops we tend to include. All delineations of rank are taken from the one book that I keep turning to for all my GCPD needs, Batman: Secret Files and Origins.

Sgt. Harvey Bullock
Det. Renee Montoya
Lt. Sarah Essen (head of Major Crimes Unit)
Det. MacKenzie "Hardback" Bock
Det. Caz Salucci
Lt. Stan Kitch
Det. Kevin "Survivor" Soong
Tac Leader Billy Pettit
Det. Foley (the new cop in NML; I've only referred to him once)

Jim Gordon only shows up once in a blue moon, 'cause lately, if things get outta hand in the precinct, Sarah's always there to make sure we're in line. Since they've been in use in the Bat-books, you know most of the characters up there, and the way they act, it's us, the extras who need explaining. :)

Also part of the GCPD are Chris Small and Loren Di Iorio, who up until recently, were partners in the Special Investigations Unit. They're both in love with Barbara Gordon, but I've made it my own policy to never directly give her any dialogue. Kind of like an off-scene, but important character. It makes things more fun to write them that way, at least for me. :)

Lately, electricity's been running between Renee and Loren, and she's been warming up to him, after a number of incidents. Just a week ago, or so, she requested a partner switch, approved by Sarah, so now, Chris is Bullock's new partner in Major Crimes, and Renee's become Loren's partner in the SIU.

Chris is alright with the switch, but Bullock's far from it. He took out some of his anger on Loren at least a couple of times, so far, and Loren has now quickly become somewhat of a punching bag, or at least, he tends to be at the receiving end a lot. :) But with Renee looking after him, now, he feels more confident, and he's not afraid to fight back.

Wayne Hotu is the laid back member of the GCPD, who never really does any work. He's a loudmouth annoyance, and he often gets his peers into trouble, while amazingly escaping any payback (well, most of the time, anyway :)  ). Currently, he's seeing Helena Bertinelli, someone whose mere name, if mentioned in Loren's presence, causes great friction.

When he's not called in as a star member of Pettit's SWAT team, rookie Englebert Lau (called Eng by his peers) serves as Commissioner Gordon's "chief administrator" (he dislikes being called a secretary :)  ). Since he just graduated from the academy, the reasoning behind his appointment to this position is unknown, and because of this, his fellow officers enjoy making fun of him. :)

The man known only as JC007 -- JC for short -- is rumored to be working for the DEO. He shows up when the GCPD least expects him to, and always escapes before they can get to him. Is he merely lying about his DEO connections, or is he part of another faction?

A new addition to the realm is the mysterious Pi. Like JC, his name is only two letters long. :) Little is known about him, except that his personality is that of the perfect English (as in England) gentleman. He is the head of an underground British syndicate, which has its own hidden agenda, and it's quite possible that JC is a member of this secretive group, however, preliminary evidence is inconclusive.

To a lesser degree, the following people may appear from time to time:

The Ravens, under Cheshire's lead, have acquired a new member, Liana. While her exact motives are unclear, when it comes to protecting her group's best interests, she'll do anything she can to ensure that her holdings are secure. :)

Walking amidst the shadows of the fallen highrises of Gotham, the mysterious Chuck, always dressed smartly in black, corners the underground markets that escape the Penguin's claws. He works for a secret society above and beyond the DEO, and has a notable flair for the melodramatic. :) Where matters of the Spolier are concerned, he can be dangerously defensive. It is believed that he has the capability to contact a number of known world-class fighters, chiefly among them, the dreaded Lady Shiva, however, evidence of this has not yet come to fruition.

Matches Malone is a frequent visitor to the Iceberg Lounge. He's been known to have a variety of "inside information", perhaps as a result of his proximity to the Penguin, who owns the establishment.
