Words With Friends (iPhone)

I’m playing in a tournament. I’m in a group with a couple of other people. I’m not entirely sure I’m doing it right, but as long as I play games against the right people I don’t suppose I can go far wrong.
I won my first game, but I’m struggling in the second one. I’m not terribly behind yet, but my letters aren’t great and my opponent if fearsome, if a little slow in playing his moves.
I’ve also been playing lots of other random people who seem to have found my name via this blog. If things don’t slow down I’m going to have to start refusing games, which would be a shame.

Now, the original point of this blog was to write about every game I played, every time I played it. That hasn’t happened. Games I play on a daily basis or ones I only play for five minutes tend to get left out unless I’ve not played anything else. That makes things manageable, but doesn’t give a true picture of what I’ve been playing. Today, therefore, I’ve decided to write about every game I played at the weekend, even if it was only briefly, to give some indication of the breadth of games I actually play, even if every single one was on the same platform.
Let’s start off then, with a game I think I’ve probably played every day for over a year now.
Yes, it’s the trusty old Words With Friends, which in terms of price-per-hour must rank as the best value game I’ve ever paid money for.
Nothing amazing to report – although a friend did beat me in stunning fashion by getting a seventy-two point word in the dying moments of one game – but I still keep on playing. I also played a few moves of Words With Pirates, too, but that joke’s wearing thin now.

So, yeah, as well as playing many turns of Words With Friends every day, I’ve also been playing limited-time spin-off Words With Pirates.
It’s very, very silly.
A screenshot will explain all.
Anyway, if you want to play, you better grab it now – apparently they’ll be turning off the servers before too long.

Yes, I am still playing this every day without fail. It must have overtaken Animal Crossing for the “consecutive days played” record. Shame that I always stop blogging about daily games, so I can’t actually prove it.

Really haven’t been gaming over the last few days. I’ve just not seemed to be in the mood for it. I’m sure I’ll get back into it before long. I have, however, been keeping up with multiplayer games, such as Words With Friends.

Increasingly, this isn’t so much Words With Friends as Words With Strangers Who Appear To Be Cheating. I’ve even been asked if I’m a cheater after playing some good words. Well, I’m not. I don’t see the point of winning if you didn’t actually play the game yourself. Yes, I sometimes put something I’m not sure about to see if it works, but I don’t use anagram solvers or dictionaries or other apps to try and find big words.

A million and one games to get through after I spent lots of quality time with my iPhone over the weekend, so let’s get started. I’ve been neglecting to mention Words With Friends lately, despite playing it every day. So, to redress the balance, here’s a post about it.
Yes, it might have been better to do it on a day when I had fewer games to talk about, but never mind. Let’s face it, I may well still be blogging about the weekend’s games tomorrow.
Anyway, though, Words With Friends. It’s still on my iPhone, I still play it and it hasn’t changed in any major way, though every now and again the dictionary and interface get little tweaks.

Out of my last ten completed games, I think I won two. For some reason I’m doing really, really badly lately. I don’t know if it’s because I’m tired, whether I’m having a run of bad luck or if everyone else has improved while I’ve stayed steady, but it’s really quite annoying.

Had to delete Words With Friends and reinstall it at the weekend, because of one of my games went very wrong indeed. As you can see from the screenshot above.
It all works now, though. Not worth throwing a party for it, but it’s good that it’s not forever wrong.
Still, if I did throw a party I could have cake… Or I could just have cake, anyway. I’m an adult, I get to decide these things.
…Except, upon checking my wallet, it seems I don’t. Bah.

Oh, yes, I still play this every day. It just doesn’t make for very interesting blog entries. And I always forget to take screen shots.
