Carcassonne (360)
I started this up for the first time in ages while the wife was having a shower and thought I might buy the expansion packs they’ve released for it. However, it turns out that they’re three hundred points each. That’s over two pounds. Each. For, what? A few more tiles and a couple of rule changes? I could almost buy Every Extend Extra Extreme for that kind of cash.
A hundred points each and I’d have been curious enough to use some of my points, but three hundred is just too much for me, I’m afraid. I could see those prices being good enough for addicts who really want some twists to their favourite game, but I just don’t play this enough.

Unlike Words With Friends, which is fairly constant, my Carcassonne playing has slowed right down lately. As suspected, I’ve been dropping down my friends leaderboard. I managed to lose some very tight, tense games and my ranking took a big hit. I’ve also been playing some really idiotic moves in my current games, so I don’t expect things will get better soon.

So, yeah, as you can see from that picture up there, Carcassonne has a leaderboard that shows how you rank against all your friends. I’m not doing too badly at all, though I have a feeling I’m going to drop down a lot when a couple of my current games finish.

Had some very, very enjoyable games at the weekend, especially when we were focused on land grabs. It’s all very well going for castle and road points, but if you let your opponent(s) grab points at the end of the game then you’re stuffed. Obvious stuff, yes, but I’m starting to feel like I’m getting

Just like Words With Friends, I play Carcassonne every day but never seem to blog about it. It’s hard to find anything useful to say. It’s a bloody brilliant game design, it’s perfectly executed on the iPhone and even the teething troubles with Internet play against friends seem to have been ironed out now. Oh,

Tried the Solitaire mode of Carcassonne last night. Basically, you need to create cities and roads that increase in size. First up, you need to create roads and cities that cover two squares, then three and so on. Laying tiles loses you points – and the points you lose increase as the size of the

In my opinion, the expansions are well worth it. Mind you, I play the game loads so it was starting to get a little stale and the expansions rejuvenated it for me.
Steve said the Kings and Barons one wasn’t great, but I got it anyway and it was a real surprise – it has completely changed the way I play. Which is a good thing.
