Just some free battles. I’m trying to get everyone up to level thirty before I continue with the story. I’ve let some people lag behind – Gilles especially – so it’s going to take a little while longer. I wish the windmill stage had tougher enemies on it – it’s gorgeous to look at.

A great big clump of story missions this evening. The story has gone in a slightly unexpected direction. One which is fine by me, but which has really mucked up my wife’s game. Hopefully it’s not a permanent thing.

I went back and tried the battle I’d lost by a single arrow again. This time my plan was to run to the target by the most direct route and slash his face in. Wasn’t a very good plan, as it turned out. Due to differing movement allowances, my force got split in two, with

Fifteen turns, one target, the only condition is that at least one of my party survive. I get off to a bad start. I misread the layout of the level and end up stuck and surrounded just out of reach of the target… to all but my archer, Marcel, who sends a poison arrow into

Well, last time I played I’d just started a level I thought I’d never be able to do. As it turns out, it was really very easy and I did it first time. This may sound obvious, but the trick was just to go for the objective, which was to kill a specific enemy unit.

Blimey. I did a couple of Free Battles and then leapt into the next story mission. I have to storm a dark fortress, lit by purple magical lights. It’s very intimidating. I also only have eighteen turns to do it. And it’s Game Over if I lose any of my units. I’ve taken a couple

Evidence is mounting that this game is something truly special. I brought my PSP into work today because I couldn’t wait until this evening before trying that battle again. So I’ve just spent a very pleasant half of a lunch time once again attempting to defend the Bastille of the Augustins. And this time, I

Oh, bother! I was doing well, with a slightly modified version of my previous tactics, when I forgot that Jeanne had to survive this battle and sent her off into the middle of a scrum of enemies, without even noticing she only had half a health bar. A stupid, stupid death and a richly deserved

And after taking The Bastille of The Augustins, I then had to defend it. I had a cunning plan, which seemed to work okay. While the main force were forcing their way through the locked main gates, I took on Talbot, one of the main baddies, on the steps up to a turret, as he’d

Well, forget what I was saying last time I played, about it being very easy. I’ve just taken the Bastille of the Augustins from the dastardly English, but not without a fight. In fact, when I won I only had one unit left – my archer, Marcel. It really was very exciting and felt very
