Keep forgetting to post about this, but it’s my lunchtime choice at the moment. I’m going through trying to 100% every level, having completed Adventure mode and all the challenges. I’ve done all but the last set of levels. Yes, yesterday I managed to 100% Frog Helix. I’m proud of that. (For reference, I used the flippers as my power up of choice.)

Awesome little web shooter. (As in a shooter on the web, rather than, like, Spider-Man.) Far more fun than it should be.

My current best score is 944, for reference.

Meant to play more Monster Hunter after I got home last night, but Peggle has a way of disrupting plans. Was trying a 800,000 point challenge – and failing, lots.

Beat the quest that was giving me trouble while sitting in the waiting room at the doctor last night. Didn’t capture the beast, but I killed it good. Now I’ve gone around the village talking to people and might take a simple quest from the village chief. Probably something involving gathering herbs. I’ll leave the monsters taller than me for a while.

Cherry blossoms!
Other than that, nothing to report.

Played this for about two and a half hours last night, mostly Campaign. This seems to mean playing the last two levels of the Blood Harvest campaign. I’m not sure why nobody’s playing anything else, but whenever I jump into a Quick Match, it sends me into the fourth or fifth level of that campaign, virtually every time. Okay, once I joined a game that was on level three of Blood Harvest, but that soon turned into level four and then five. Er, obviously.
I also played a little bit of Versus mode, but that was pretty awful. While the players in Campaign are mostly fun to play with, Versus seems to attract idiots who like shooting teammates and running around being idiots.
I got a fair few Achievements last night, too. Haven’t got any for completing any campaigns yet, but I did get some fun ones.
Hunter Punter: Shove a Hunter off of a pinned and helpless Survivor. Got this on top of the train carriage just before the scary, scary cornfield. Sometimes, survivors seem to lose their collective courage and you end up hanging around in one place. The Director doesn’t like you doing this, though, which I guess is why, when we finally started moving, the player at the back of the pack got leapt on by a Hunter. I, as the Achievement says, ran back, shoved it off him and then, as the Achievement Unlocked box was popping up on the screen, pumping it full of lead.
Brain Salad: Make 100 headshot kills. Fairly obvious, this one. I think this popped up in the farmhouse. In games I usually end up with one of the lowest accuracy ratings for the team, but often have the biggest headshot percentage. I think this means I probably keep aiming too high.
Towering Inferno: Light a Tank with a Molotov. I had a Molotov. I saw a Tank. I threw the Molotov and set it on fire. Go me!
Tankbusters: Kill a Tank without it dealing any damage to a Survivor. This popped up at the end of Blood Harvest. We were in the farmhouse, the Tank was outside and couldn’t seem to decide how to get into the house. We peppered it from long range and then I assume it died – I’d gone off to deal with some normal zombies (sorry, Infected) before it died.
My Bodyguard: Protect any Survivor from an attacking Infected 50 times. I don’t have a clue when I got this. I think I must have missed it in the heat of battle. However, it was probably in the farmhouse, as that’s where I spent most of my evening.
No Smoking Section: Kill 10 Smokers as they are pulling helpless Survivors. Again, this popped up during some intense battle and I no longer remember the details. Quite satisfying, though.
Big Drag: Drag a Survivor 100 feet with your tongue. My only Versus Achievement so far. Didn’t do my team much good – as soon as I started dragging Bill someone else on his team shot me dead, but it was a nice, if brief, moment.

So, I’m up to the final tutorial mission in the Basic Training section. It’s a bit hard. I could probably kill the target creature, but there are better rewards for capturing it, so I’m trying to do that. However, I keep getting knocked unconscious (i.e. dying) and there doesn’t seem to be any lock on, so I’m having terrible troubles throwing things at my target monster. I’ll get there, I’m sure, but it’s a bit discouraging.

My lovely wife sent me a sombrero and some lunar horizon wallpaper. She is best.

Had this lying around for many months, but never got around to playing it. With GTA’s story completed, I thought it was time.
I had a brief addiction to the first game a while back, so thought that I’d remember how things worked.
I don’t.
Luckily there’s a full set of very thorough tutorials that I’m working my way through. So far I’ve killed some big shaggy things for their meat, cooked the meat (which is very difficult without having any sound, but I got there in there), gathered some herbs and honey and mined a whetstone.
If I can keep my momentum up and not leave it for long enough to forget how to play, I could probably get addicted to this all over again.

Four quid this cost me. I wanted to try out the Ultimate Team card game thing without buying FIFA 09, which is a fair bit more expensive.
First impressions are that the interface for the card stuff is incredibly confusing and I can’t seem to score a goal, even on the easiest difficulty. I guess I should read the manual to see what the buttons are. I think I’ve got them pretty much worked out, but I bet there’s a lot I’m missing.
I only played it for a very short time to check the disc worked, mind.
