Lately, I’ve just been digging around under my castle.
A lot.
I think, in fact, that I’ve been digging a bit too much. I’ve got a huge network of tunnels and keep digging into and wrecking things I’ve already built, which I then have to repair. Then I have to divert my new passageway and normally end up hitting something else or flooding the whole area with lava.
I think it’s time for some more surface building.

Summoning’s currently broken on the server, so I’ve not been able to plan any grand projects or even make any lava lights. I’ve been having to use torches, like a peasant.
In order to have something to do, I’ve started hollowing out the huge mountain inside my castle walls.
I’ve got huge rooms, weird little mine bits, windows, open areas and long, twisting passageways. It’s half a building and half a mine – with a great big pit in the middle that I’d never noticed before, despite it being very large and on my property.

That’s a map of the multiplayer sever on which I’m playing Minecraft. My castle and garden is just above the centre of the image there. It’s not the whole map – that’s far too large to upload – but this map shows the vast majority of the building work. (You may have to download the full image to view it properly.)

Of course, Minecraft is still in alpha, so really quite buggy – especially in multiplayer.
Our server crashed over the weekend and chunks of the landscape reverted to an older version.
I rebuilt the room of my castle that was half missing and gave it a better roof, then recreated the clawing demon. A huge tower I’d built that had completely disappeared I think I’ll give up for lost.

My latest creation, a great horned beast clawing its way out of the molten depths.
Or half a rubbish space invader with hands. You decide.

I changed the statue of the lava-spunking man into a statue of a lava-spunking Batman, as he’s situated right by the new Bat Signal.
My wife asked for a picture when I told her about him, so here he is.
A work of art to rival Michelangelo’s David and the Venus de Milo, I’m sure you’ll agree.

A huge effort, a major lava leakage that killed animals, burned trees and forever changed the landscape of the server… but I made a Bat Signal in the sky.
I’m quite pleased with it, but not jumping around with delight. I think I should have built it higher, for one thing.

Amongst other things, I built a great hall for my castle.
Shame it looks so dull from the outside, but I do like how it looks from the inside.

No huge fancy projects today, instead I spent time tidying up, building paths and expanding my castle’s walls.
At least I didn’t flood my castle with lava today. I managed to do that twice yesterday. It’s not destructive, but it’s a pain to clean up.

I built a huge statue of myself on a hill overlooking my castle. That’s probably slightly worrying, isn’t it?
I also added a prison cell to my Secret Shrine of Evil, too. That might be a slightly worrying, too, now I come to think about it.
