Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow
Oct 2nd
I’m stuck.
I have gained the power to stop time (i.e. freeze enemies – cogs still turn annoyingly) and now I have no idea where to go next.
I’ve done a pretty comperehensive survey of all the open-ended spots on the map and I can’t seem to get through any of them yet. Looking at some of them, I really think I’ll be needing to turn into a bat or moth or something at some point. But I can’t yet, so those areas are out of bounds.
Maybe I’ll wander for years until I find the answer. Be level 2,373 and have a beard down to my balls before finally stumbling over a door I didn’t realise I could open.

::deep breath::
You remember the other day when I mentioned how I’d just had the most annoying death in any Castlevania ever?
Well…
::another deep breath::
…well, it can’t begin to compare to my last dying. It was… quite vexing.
Now, if you’ll excuse me, I need to go find my happy place.

One more boss down. Killed first time.
Lots of annoying jumping later and I think about to meet the Medusa Heads for the first time this game. Oooh, I hate them.
Uncovered 44.4% of the map now and have played for a little voer four hours according to the clock.
My thumb’s very sore now, though, so I should probably give things a rest for a while.

Valkyrie souls really don’t drop very often.
No more bosses, just wandering around trying to find out the place to use my new power that will open up the next huge section of the map. I keep finding loads of dead ends where I can’t jump high enough or haven’t got the right magical seal or haven’t got the correct amount of gold or whatever.
You know, it could really do with a system of map annotations to help keep track of things. They could be hand-written and everything. Sure it wouldn’t be that difficult to do.
