Minecraft (Mac)
Sep 20th
Having walled off a huge expanse of land, I decided I should do something with it.
I built a spiral lighthouse, then built a beardy face next to it. I tend to sign my work with variations on that abstract beardy face. Sometimes it smiles, sometimes it’s grumpy, sometimes there’s a nose, sometimes there isn’t.
Also, I installed a new texture pack. You can see it more easily in a daytime shot.
I like it rather a lot, but unfortunately lava and water aren’t animated, which is sad.
Anyway, if you want to try it, here’s THE LINK.
Pix’n Love Rush (iPhone)
Sep 20th
I barely touched any iPhone games over the weekend. One game of Tetris, a level of Zombie Infection, a single go of Monster Rush. I suppose I should have taken screenshots, but I didn’t, so I’m not going to bother blogging about them.
(Expect a comparison between the iPhone and PSP Minis versions of Tetris at some point, though.)
I did, however, take a screenshot of Pix’n Love Rush, so here it is:
The lovely thing about Game Center is that it’s sending me back to great games I’ve neglected. Shame that this game won’t upload your score to Game Center unless you score over a million points. I want to compare my scores with my friends, dammit!
Noby Noby Boy (PS3)

Oh my. This was so peaceful and so lovely when I played it on Saturday night. Half an hour melted away like delicious chocolate ice cream.
Such a wonderful toy set.
I love it so, so much.
(I took a video, but it failed to upload to YouTube. Sorry.)
Sonic Adventure Demo (360)
Sep 20th
Excellent. All I really wanted from this was the nostalgic rush of playing the first level with the killer whale. As that’s the demo level, I don’t need to spend any money on the full game. Thanks Sega!
I would like to play in the Chao Garden again, though. I have many fond memories of, er, carrying them around. I’m sure I used to do other things, too, but it’s mainly the carrying I remember.
R.U.S.E. Demo (360)
Sep 20th
This is going to be a very short blog post. This is because I’m not very bright.
I tried out the demo mission and got very confused when building some tanks to capture a demo and everything went wrong and my thumbs went everywhere and all my units started going to the wrong places and the enemy completely destroyed me.
So, being the mature thirty-something that I am, I turned the game off in a huff.
Does look like it would be good if I wasn’t such a child, though.
Afterburner Climax (360)
Sep 20th
Bought this when it was on special offer ages ago, then promptly forgot about it until this weekend.
My impressions go something like this:
ZOOM! PEW PEW! EXPLODE! ZOOM! I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT IS HAPPENING BUT THIS IS AWESOME! BARREL ROLL! ZOOM!
It’s really quite marvellous. I’ve decided that I should concentrate on unlocking all the EX options and trying them out instead of worrying about high scores and multipliers quite yet.
Minecraft (Mac)
Sep 17th
My castle and its grounds are spreading out across the map.
This means I’m getting close to other people’s stuff. I try very, very hard not to destroy or change anything anyone else has made and build around anything I didn’t create myself.
I get too close, though – the equivalent of invading someone else’s personal space.
See, I’ve preserved that excellent TIE Fighter, given credit and even created a viewing platform, but it’s stuck in a small walled area in amongst other bits and pieces I’ve built myself. I need to be more careful in future, definitely.
Street Fighter IV (iPhone)
Sep 17th
Last night Capcom updated Street Fighter IV again. Two new characters (E. Honda and Crimson Viper) and the option to spend some cash on new outfits for Ryu and Chun-Li. I’m very impressed with the support Capcom have given this game – so much so that I’ve actually tempted to reward them by buying the outfits. I probably won’t, though.
Zombie Infection (iPhone)
Sep 17th
When I got my iPhone – was it really only just over a year ago? – I thought 16GB would be plenty of space. What sort of idiot would pay so much extra for a 32GB model?
You can see where this is going.
I am constantly having to delete games and cut down the amount of music I carry around with me. Yesterday afternoon I spent 59p on Prince of Persia: Warrior Within, which weighs in at a whopping 554MB. Golly.
Zombie Infection is over 200MB in size, so it would be nice if I could delete it. However, I cannot delete it until I’ve either completed it or got to a really annoying bit.
So far, I’ve not done either. I’ve died too much – playing with the sound off makes it very easy for zombies to sneak up on you – and the mounted gun segments inexplicably fail to pay attention to my Invert Look setting, but I’m still enjoying it rather a lot.
Not just because you get to kill zombie animals in a zoo, but that does help.
It’s utterly shameless, of course, in so very many ways, but it’s actually a decent game.
Pocket Frogs (iPhone)
Sep 17th
And now, a word from our sponsor -
I get it. It is a game for when your wife wants to use your iphone and play with the froggies because it is hella adorable and you can jump around lilypads. DUH.
So that’s what we’ve been doing. I’ve been masterminding breeding strategy, moving frogs between habitats, maintaining the catalogue, etc. and my wife has been making the frogs happy and jumping around looking for new frogs to breed with.
And that’s how to make a marriage work, kids!
