Resident Evil 4 Wii Edition (Wii)
Jun 30th
These new controls are great. Wiggling the remote is far superior to hammering a button in QTEs, apart from the pointer shooting. Anyway, first boss encounter is over now and wasn’t very hard at all.
Resident Evil 4 Wii Edition (Wii)
Jun 28th
This is qite an old game in a new edition, so it counts for Retro Week, right?
Yeah, okay, I give up.
Anyway, it’s the same old RE4, but with pointer controls for aiming. And, er, that’s it. And, er, that’s enough.
F-Zero X (Wii)
Jun 24th
Well, I was going to leave this until the official start of retro week tomorrow, but as it seems to be Futuristic Racer Day, I thought I’d give it a go.
Unlike WipEout, it’s not stupidly hard. I nearly didn’t finish the first cup after losing all my spare lives on the last track, but I pulled it together in the end and came first. Go me.
It’s very fast and very fun, but the Classic controller is really bloody uncomfortable.
The Legend of the Mystical Ninja (Wii)
May 8th
Hooray! First boss down!
I can’t find a Log Book Shop where I can save, so I’ve gone to the second island. The locals are annoying me, so I’ve stopped playing for now.
The Legend of the Mystical Ninja (Wii)
May 6th
This is fun, but I keep losing to the first boss, even though I know how to damage her. I hate bosses.
Lylat Wars (Wii)
Apr 20th
Ah, thank goodness!
I was so worried that Lylat Wars wouldn’t stand up today and I’d be horribly disappointed, but, no, it’s still an excellent game today. The mothership level is, if not quite as awesome as I remember, due to horrifically dated graphics, still quite impressive and great fun.
Odd difficulty curve, though. Breezed through the first three levels without any problems, then lost all my lives on level four’s boss. Stupid lava creature with shoulders that aren’t part of its arms. Grr.
Splatterhouse (Wii)
Apr 12th
The final boss on level two is a poltergeist. You have to avoid candles, then punch a chair to death, then some knives, then a painting. Then the poltergeist turns into some sort of ectoplasmic entity and zooms off out a window.
I’d remembered that bit. I’d forgotten, however, that after the poltergeist buggers off that a chandelier falls from the ceiling. Which isn’t much fun when you’ve scraped through to the end of the level with no lives and one single health point remaining.
Ack.
Dragon’s Curse (Wii)
Apr 8th
Thirty-nine minutes I’ve played this.
I really don’t feel like playing any more.
Either I’m missing something or it’s just stupidly hard. Not hard and fun like New Adventure Island, just clunky and annoyingly tough.
I frown in the direction of the people who recommended this.
Splatterhouse (Wii)
Mar 15th
As a Friday The 13th one I had to buy this. It’s not at all bad. I got to Stage 4 and then my credits ran out. Not too bad.
The boss with chainsaw arms and a bag over is head is awesome.
2*Ash + Jason(Part II)
Er, that’s his formula.
New Adventure Island (Wii)
Mar 14th
Put this on for a few minutes after checking the voting channel with my wife. Started the session on level 2-1, ended the session on level 2-1. I hate frogs.
