Awful. Just awful.
Not only was it a seemingly endless parade of “run here, trigger cut scene, run back, trigger cut scene, run here, trigger cut scene” but something about it has left me feeling physically ill. I assume something about the graphics (framerate?) but the voice acting is bad enough that it might be the cause.
Just… imagine Oblivion, but from a parallel universe where everything about Oblivion went wrong. It’s Oblivion with a sinister goatee. And one leg. One arthritic leg. One gangrenous, arthritic leg, limping jerkily in the general direction of… of… of… I dunno. Vomit, maybe. A giant lake of vomit.
It looks awful, it sounds awful, the quest design (at least for the forty-five minutes I played) is beyond awful, the combat is… almost serviceable, actually, if quite dull, but having to fight boring wolves and boars every six yards gets old, fast.
This is going cheap on the Internet these days, but your time is worth more than this. Even if you’re an unemployed immortal who has played every other game ever made, go and draw a pretty picture or help someone across the road or something. Just don’t play this. It’s not worth it.
Mind you, maybe it gets better…

We have a new neighbour! She’s a kangaroo called Matilda. Seems nice, but we didn’t talk much.

Awesome.
Still.
Finished the story with my wife last night, then leapt straight into the Director’s Cut version. I was expecting something terribly difficult, but we finished the first level without dying. Hooray!
Once we’d done that it was bedtime, but we played a quick go of the survival mini game before turning off the console. Goodness me, but there are a lot of zombies there! The riot cop zombies are just as annoying in that mode as they are in the main game. I’m really not sure how best to deal with them – shooting their shields seems to lose you your combo. Hmm.
Anyway, as I may have already said, this game is awesome.

I’ve got all the shops in the village up to level two now, which means I should be able to get some cool new stuff. Except I’ve not got any of the items I need to make the new weapons I’ve unlocked. I guess I need to play some new missions instead of going back to the same old ones again and again.

Didn’t play much yesterday. Just wandered around doing some levelling and such. I found the Pikachu fan club, but didn’t get any gifts for having a Pikachu in my party. Oh well.

I have foiled the evil Team Galactic! Ha ha!
So that’s the end of the big story. Now I’ve just got… everything else left to do. Of most importance is the final gym and the Elite Four, but there’s tons and tons of toehr stuff to do, too.

Lots of play last night, mostly levelling up before tackling the next gym. My staravia evolved into a staraptor (if I got those names right…), but I moved her out of the party for a Swablu, who I’m now trying to evolve. The swablu can’t learn defog, so I’m having to avoid foggy areas, but that’s the only real negative.

Ah, yes, this is what I wanted.
Played through the first five levels with my wife last night and it was awesome. Lots and lots of zombies to shoot in the face (chest, arm, leg, etc.) and, well, that’s about it. A lovely grindhouse-style presentation and fast-paced, well-designed arcade action.
For my wife and me, that just about equals perfection.
