Peggle (360)

Did a couple of levels of Adventure, but I mainly played Duels with the wife. At the end of it we’d won fifteen each, which was a nice way to leave things. It’s great fun.
Peggle Dual Shot (DS)

Yes! Another version of Peggle! Hooray?
Well, the conversion is pretty nasty. The graphics look terrible (not a patch on the iPod version, but the screen resolution on the DS is much lower), it’s very hard to judge shots, the ball judders around the screen (and is a square, rather than being round) and they’ve added in a horrible mini game that you can trigger by getting five purple pegs in a level.
It’s really not very good at all.
But! It’s still Peggle and thus strangely playable, even though the joy of watching the ball bouncing around the screen is lacking. And in terms of content, there’s no complaints. Peggle, Peggle Nights and some extra unlockable levels on top.
So, it’s shame it looks so horrible, but it seems the spark of Peggle genius has survived. Just.
Peggle Nights (PC)

Popcap have released a set of free spring-themed levels for Peggle Nights, which installed easily (though they wouldn’t install to my D: drive, where I like to keep game files.) I’ve been having fun with them – the “ace” scores seem really quite high and trying to get those scores and the 100% award will keep me going a long time.

This gets the award for the hardest version of Peggle. The aiming arrow’s quite short and there’s no cursor, so judging longer shots is tricky. It’s lovely to have leaderboards, though. Mostly for comparing with friends, but it was nice to be 16th in the world overall on level 7-4 (I think) on Saturday.
Haven’t tried multiplayer yet.

Got up early this morning and spent forty-five minutes playing Peggle before work. It’s a good way to start the day, even though I’m not doing very well at all on this version. I have real trouble judging long shots, due to the lack of a cursor and the size of the screen.

What is there to say about Peggle that hasn’t already been said?
It’s Peggle, it’s on the 360. More like the iPod than PC version – there’s no cursor, making longer shots quite a lot more difficult – but it’s just Peggle.
And it is, of course, excellent.
Pity the score I got on the first level was so rubbish. Not sure how that happened.

Completed all the duel challenges without any real problems. I’m now onto the “best X number of random levels in a row” challenges, which are good fun.

Stuck on a “do three levels in fifteen balls challenge” – but it’s a fun challenge, not an annoying one. So all’s good.

Have given up on the “six unique style shots” challenge. I think you need a mix of Extreme Slide, Long Shot, Free Ball Skills, Lucky Bounce, the one for getting both green balls in one shot and, um, an extra long shot or something. Not really doable.
So I’ve moved on to easier and more fun challenges. I’ll go back sometime and get the one I’ve skipped.

Did the challenges I was stuck on, raced through the next page without any problems, am now stuck on a “Get 200,000 style points” level. No idea how to go about that.
