Trials HD (360)
Jun 1st
The hard levels are well-named. Had terrible trouble even getting through the tutorial and after that things went really bad. I’m not sure if it’s still actually fun or not, but it’s certainly hard to stop playing.
Trials HD (360)

Polished off the Easy and Medium levels at the weekend. I think I got a Silver medal on one level, but it was all Bronze medals apart from that. It’s getting tricky now – I wonder how I’ll cope with the Hard levels?
(Of course, if I hadn’t spent several minutes trying to get a strike on a level that included a set of out-of-the-way bowling pins I’d have probably tried out one or two of the Hard levels by now.)

Finally got round to getting the game when it was on offer for 800 points last week. It’s just as great as the demo suggests. Sometimes frustrating, yes, but the controls feel so natural on the 360 that it’s a completely different game from the fiddling, mildly-hateful PC version.
I’ve done the Beginner levels with gold medals, but now I’m on Easy I’m just concentrating on getting through each track – I’ll go and try to improve my times when (if…) I manage to complete them all.
As an aside, the first achievement I managed to get in the game was the one for breaking every bone in my body, which must say something about my play style.
Trials HD Demo (360)
Sep 29th
Tried this on my netbook a while back – about the same time as Defense Grid, funnily enough – and didn’t really get on with the controls, so it took me a long time to get round to trying the Xbox demo.
But, yeah, wow. I can see why the game is getting so much praise. Somehow, between PC and 360 the game has been absolutely transformed, from a fiddly physics-based key-tapper into a joystick-wrestling, white-knuckle thrillfest.
If there’s any way I can afford some Microsoft points then this is going to get bought. It’s amazing.
Trials 2: Second Edition (PC)

Finally finished the tutorials, which got very, very hard. Then raced through the early non-tutorial levels having great fun. It’s got hard again now, though. Not sure if it’s too hard… but it might be.

An actual 3D game! Runs very smoothly and seems fun, in a slightly QWOP-like way. Only testing out for five minutes – in a slightly less-slumped position, but not exactly upright – doesn’t make for much to blog about.
