Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow
Well, I opened the two spinning number doors. Wasn’t worth it.
I killed over 150 pirates to get a pirate soul. Wasn’t worth it.
I spent 50,000 gold or credits or whatever the currency is on a silver handgun. Wasn’t worth it.
And I’ve just millions of times trying and failing to get past some spikes in some water that lead to most of the 6.3% of the map I seem to be missing. There’s got to be a way, but I just can’t see it. Maybe there’s a soul I need that I’ve not got. I’d guess there’d be a “turn to fish” one, or something, but I think I’ve got all the watery souls and I’ve got nothing like that. And the puppet throwing skill doesn’t reach fast enough. Oh, it’s very, very annoying.
And despite all my moaning, I’ve had great fun. It really is a brilliant game, this.

Still thoroughly enjoying this. I’ve got thirty-three percent of the map uncovered now, but I suspect the two-thirds I’ve got left is going to take a lot longer to uncover. Had some trouble with a boss fight over the weekend, but it didn’t hold me up for long – I just had to make sure

What do you get if you cross Castlevania, Puzzle Quest and Puzzle Fighter? Yep, you get this game. (Okay, it’s not actually based on Puzzle Fighter. Hmm. Hmm. HMM. I’m not sure about this. Maybe this is where there Castlevania meets diminishing returns. It seems to be half made up of changes I’m not sure I like (complicated glyph attack system, small level maps travelled to on a top-down, no-gameplay world map, more talking than normal) and the same old gameplay,

I won’t bore you with the details. Online reviews will give all the details about what this release contains. Rondo… 2.5D… etc. What do I think about it all? Well, the main game is very hard. It’s good, but it’s harder than any modern Castlevania and, I think, harder than Super Castlevania IV. I’ve unlocked

Beat the boss who is me, got the Soul of Wolf, then died a long way into the Long Library, making me gah and gnash and turn the game off. I wasn’t enjoying it that much anyway. Any illness that can stop me enjoying Castlevania is evil. Evil!

After a long break I’ve come back to this refreshed and I’m finding it so much easier than I did before. Bosses have been dropping all over the place and I found a great new weapon called Nebula, that’s sort of a slow homing whip. Sort of. I still hate Medusa Heads though. Oh yes
