Hot Shots Golf: Open Tee 2 (PSP)
Jun 18th
There’s really not much to say. I almost got a hole in one last night but, er, didn’t. I unlocked some more clothing options and, um, that’s it, really.
It’s golf. What can I say?

I lost a match! For the first time.
So I went back and tried again and it was on a much easier course and romped to victory. Odd.

Unlocked a new character – an incredibly annoying nine-year-old boy – and am now a Pro, apparently. Still lots of fun, still golf.

See, it’s exciting to play. Few games have me shouting at the PSP screen and I don’t think any others have me scratching at the screen trying to stop a ball from rolling down into a pond.
But it’s golf, so there’s nothing interesting to say about it. Um, I unlocked a fat caddy last night. Will that do?
Hot Shots Golf: Open Tee 2 (PSP)

Sequel to one of the best – if not the best – PS games? Yes please!
Completely forgot this was coming out until a few days ago, which is nice. Waiting for games is a terrible experience for someone as impatient for me, so it was nice only have to wait three or four days for my copy.
Anyway, it’s the same again, there’s just more of it. Which is fine by me. Still stupidly addictive, still great.
R-Type Command (PSP)
May 17th
Yes, I get annoyed by long tutorials that tell you exactly what to do and don’t let you actually really play a game for a couple of hours after starting. But they do at least tell you what you need to know.
R-Type Command doesn’t seem to have a tutorial at all. It starts with a Training mission, which I assumed would have some, well, training in it. But no, it drops you into the game and expects you to swim.
I sunk.
It’s not that I couldn’t work out the basics. I managed to move units, attack the enemy and end my turns. All that. But I got killed horribly and I’m not too sure what I could have done to avoid it.
Grand Theft Auto 2 (PSP)
Apr 10th
Always my least favourite GTA and, oof, it’s not aged well at all. Played for half an hour or so, but failed to find the fun.
DJ Max Portable 2 (PSP)
Mar 16th
After playing a few songs this seems to be gaming equivalent of rubbing your stomach while patting your head… while on fire… in a car that’s plummeting off a cliff… onto a spikes. Or something.
It’s impossible for me. I can’t seem to divide the left hand and right hand actions up properly. Everything’s a horrible mess and I just keep getting lost in it.
Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories (PSP)
Mar 16th
I didn’t mean to play this, you know. I really didn’t. I just wanted to see if it ran better with the CPU at 333Mhz. The answer is yes. No framerate issues at all. It’s probably the smoothest GTA has ever been for me.
So, yeah, the idea was just to test out the framerate. Instead I played all weekend. Hours and hours and hours. I’ve got thriving criminal empire, but I’ve still not unlocked the Eastern half of the city. It’s very good. The “humour” isn’t up there with the other GTAs – this just feels a bit grubby and nasty – but the game is very well designed on the whole. There have only been a few annoying missions so far and I love being able to buy back all your weapons after you die or get busted.
your
I’ve only stopped playing now because if I see the words “Mission Failed: Lance Has Died” one more time I’m going to snap my PSP in half.
Space Invaders Extreme (PSP)
Mar 14th
I forced myself to stop playing this because I fear for my PSP’s X button. Also: my thumb. But mainly the X button.
