Not often I just start up a game to watch the credits, but that’s what I did with yesterday. Lovely.

We reached the moon! Which is like earth, but full of spacemen and moon cars and, er, tapirs. Just based on the one map I tried earlier.
I love Noby Noby Boy and I love that all the players around the world had to work together to reach the moon.

One of the most amazing gaming experiences I’ve ever had. (It’s a long list, yes, but this is on there.)
To explain why, or really say anything about the game would spoil it. Go in knowing nothing, come out two or three hours later with a special feeling. I don’t want to go all Eurogamer on you and say that it’s going to make you examine your life or anything, but, bugger it, it just might. Only for a few minutes, nothing lasting, but that’s pretty amazing for a video game. And if it doesn’t, well, you’ll have spent six quid on a game that’s great fun and does something different in a way that Braid and Deadly “Ooh I’m a spider!” Creatures don’t.
I suppose, in a way it’s a role playing game that gives you a unique role to play.
But I’ve said enough.

Keep playing this. So what if there’s no score or goals? It’s a fun toy and I love it. Soon, we should all reach the moon.
Street Fighter IV (PS3)
Feb 22nd
Taken a liking to Crimson Viper. I’ve learned some of her moves and I feel reasonably comfortable with her. Can’t win online to save my life, mind. Still, I don’t mind. It’s still fun and I can have my own little party if I win a single round, which sometimes happens. Rarely, but sometimes.
KIllzone 2 Demo (PS3)

Still playing this. You know why? Because it’s great, that’s why. I thoroughly enjoy every trip I take through the demo and it’s not got old yet, despite the number of times I’ve played it. Lovely stuff.
Street Fighter IV (PS3)

There aren’t many games that can keep me up late – and fewer that can get me up early in the morning. Street Fighter IV appears to be one of them. Bed half an hour late, up an hour and a half early.
It’s really, really great. It feels familiar without feeling stale, it looks gorgeous and the net code appears to be great.
So far I’ve played thirteen matches online, all as Ryu. I lost the first twelve. And in those twelve matches I won maybe two rounds. I’m really not very good. But then a Fei Long player challenged me. I won the first round, but only just. He destroyed me in the second round. In the third round I was losing and in desperation tried an Ultra move, which I can’t normally pull off. This time it came out, though… and it hit him full force… and it did enough damage to kill him. That was an amazing feeling. To get a win online was amazing, to get it with an Ultra, well, that’s special.
After that I turned off the option to allow online challengers and went through Arcade mode on the Easiest difficulty. No trouble there until I got to my rival, Sagat, who beat me once before I killed him. And then on to Seth, who is a horror show. I was pleased to finally win a round after many attempts, only for him to then get much stronger for the next round. Took me a long time and I was worried I wouldn’t be able to complete Arcade mode before work, but I finally best him with a couple of minutes to spare. Hooray!
Now my thumb hurts.

New game from the creator of Katamari. Game in the loosest sense. It’s more of a software toy, really. You crawl and grow and eat and poop and jump and fly around small randomly-generated levels doing, well, whatever you feel like doing.
Words can’t very well describe it, so go watch a short video I uploaded HERE. And if that’s not enough there’s a longer one showing me playing the game for the first time HERE.
I love it – and the £3.19 price tag feels just right.
Capcom vs. SNK: Millennium Fight 2000 Pro (PS3)
Feb 18th
This is where the (FORMAT) part of post titles breaks down. This is a Playstation game, but I was playing it on my PS3 to test out the d-pad. Played as Ryu (obviously) and managed to perform better than I did when I played Street Fighter 2 on the 360 the other night. So the PS3 version of Street Fighter IV it is.
Incidentally, I’d forgotten about the Color Edit mode in this game. It’s great fun making a green “Hulk” Ryu in a fetching pink costume. Pity I couldn’t work out how to use my saved color scheme in the game. Still, rusty I may be, but my standard team of Ryu and Mai got me all the way to Geese, who I nearly beat.
