Some lunchtime… fun?
Gain Ground – This isn’t too bad, but it’s very clunky indeed.
Shadow Dancer – You’re a ninja! With a dog! Shame it’s instadeath hell.
Sword of Vermillion – Ack! This seems to be an RPG! Run away!
Super Thunderblade – Sort of like Space Harrier, but you’re a helicopter. Horrible frame rate, but it is at least fast and frantic. I had three goes, which is this lunchtime’s record. Or was, until I played…
Alex Kidd In The Enchanted Castle – You can punch cars to death, but try to punch a ball of poo and you die. Valuable life lesson there. Thanks Alex Kidd! Actually, though rock hard, this is actually really good and held my attention for a good twenty minutes. I even discovered a secret area under the ground. Finally – fun!
Test Drive Unlimited (PSP)

Hardly played this, but I did start it up and try one of those challenges where you have to go through speed cameras as fast as possible. I failed dismally every time I tried, going off the road, missing cameras, etc. Ouch.

I remembered I enjoyed this and it’s the closest thing to Fuel I’ve got for the PSP, so I copied this to my memory stick and started it up. And then didn’t stop playing until bed time. Took me a few minutes to remember how it all worked, but soon enough I was driving around in my Aston Martin, doing challenges and having a grand old time. Didn’t do amazingly well, but I’m sure I’ll improve. I think I’m doing well enough not to bother wiping my save and starting all over again, at least.

Didn’t want to play more OutRun, so I went to the games shelf to pick some UMDs I’ve not used in a while. Saw this and realised I’d bought it ages ago, then spent almost no time with it. Went through the list of games several times looking for something I’d want to play, didn’t see anything that grabbed me, so defaulted to Sonic the Hedgehog. I’m sure it used to be easier than this. It took me three goes to even get past the Green Hill Zone – and then Marble Zone, or whatever it’s called, killed me dead.
Decided it would be much better playing from the memory stick, so spent most of the rest of the evening copying UMDs to my hard drive, then back to my PSP, which means I didn’t actually play much.
OutRun 2006: Coast 2 Coast (PSP)
Jun 11th
Last night I used the “Just Drive” setting a few times, jumping into to random mode with a random car. It’s good for when you’re not quite sure what you want to do, but I ended up driving cars I didn’t much like and not doing very well at all. Ah well.

Just been playing the old OutRun 2 tracks, no SP tracks for me this weekend. Didn’t get any new high scores, but after the first couple of races I seemed to get back up to my old skill level, or thereabouts.

One quick go at OutRun 2, easiest route. That should have been simple, but I barely scraped over the finish line before my time ran out. I guess I got myself used to 360 handling… or maybe I was just rubbish last night.
Dynasty Warriors Strikeforce (PSP)
May 28th
Got past a slightly annoying level that ended with a fight in a round arena against several flying foes and found myself in a new town. Same old shops and all, but a different look to it. Wasn’t expecting that. What I have been expecting is to find items to create a new spear with, but I haven’t found any yet. I’ve managed to get one of the things I need from the Exchange, but no sign of any more. Ah well, I seem to be doing okay with my current weapon.
I’ve only put three hours into this so far, which seems wrong, but it’s the kind of game I play a lot of in short sessions. I’ll pick it up, play a mission that lasts ten or fifteen minutes, then put it down for an hour or two. It’s pretty much perfect for a quick go now and again, but no more than that.

Ooh, interesting new type of mission last night. A ten minute time limit and and a load of areas filled with big baddies capable of stunning you to get through before reaching the boss. I was cutting it a little fine – I went off to get the bonus objective on the way – but found a time extender at the entrance to the final area. Didn’t find any items to help me get new weapons, though.

I’ve got all the shops in the village up to level two now, which means I should be able to get some cool new stuff. Except I’ve not got any of the items I need to make the new weapons I’ve unlocked. I guess I need to play some new missions instead of going back to the same old ones again and again.
