I’m at the final boss rush – which has checkpoints between bosses, thankfully. Bosses are upgraded versions of the original bosses I fought. I’m not going to make it, as I only have about thirty five lives left. I’m only on the second boss, see. That boss is actually two characters. They’d be easy enough to defeat individually, but together they’re really tough.
I’m wondering if playing without sound has made it unnecessarily difficult. There are probably audio cues to help you work out which of their attacks the bosses will do next, which I’m not getting. Still, they’re incredible in that they’re actually fun to fight – and if I have to run away and start the game over, which seems inevitable, then I’m not going to mind one bit.
This game has been a wonderful surprise. I wasn’t expecting much and yet I’ve put in over sixteen hours since I got it on Saturday. That’s an awful lot for me, an awful lot.

Half an hour I spent fishing for Violet’s key. Finally found it after millions of pond smelts and the odd tyre. Phew. She needs to be more careful; I was just about to let her spend the night outside.

Oh yes, I played this over the weekend. Completely forgot about it, probably because it’s a bit rubbish.

Got to the boss Darth Moab with 134 lives. Am now down to 92 lives. The stupid thing is, there’s no reason to die. You can take four hits and all his attacks are avoidable. It’s just impatience and lack of skill that’s killing me.
And I’ve got a feeling this might be the start of a boss rush, possibly. Let’s hope not, eh?

Festivale! Confetti in the air, people giving away candy and a drag queen who will trade candy for furniture. Great to see something new in town.

Still playing through this. Going to have to trade in some stuff for the full version later this week. I bet the full game will have some annoyances not in the demo, though. I just want lots more of what we’ve got, without bosses or timed sections or whatever else they’re going to throw into the mix.

Not often I just start up a game to watch the credits, but that’s what I did with yesterday. Lovely.

It took me two hundred and fifty lives to kill Chefbot-9000. TWO HUNDRED AND FIFTY. And that’s after losing over two hundred and fifty lives on the previous level. I’ve got just over a hundred lives left, so I’m not going to be able to make it through the dessert pirates’ lair, I don’t think. I might have to talk to the guy near the Etnachamber and quit the game, but restart fro the beginning with everything I’ve previously found unlocked.
And I’m still missing an orb. A purple one.

We reached the moon! Which is like earth, but full of spacemen and moon cars and, er, tapirs. Just based on the one map I tried earlier.
I love Noby Noby Boy and I love that all the players around the world had to work together to reach the moon.

One of the most amazing gaming experiences I’ve ever had. (It’s a long list, yes, but this is on there.)
To explain why, or really say anything about the game would spoil it. Go in knowing nothing, come out two or three hours later with a special feeling. I don’t want to go all Eurogamer on you and say that it’s going to make you examine your life or anything, but, bugger it, it just might. Only for a few minutes, nothing lasting, but that’s pretty amazing for a video game. And if it doesn’t, well, you’ll have spent six quid on a game that’s great fun and does something different in a way that Braid and Deadly “Ooh I’m a spider!” Creatures don’t.
I suppose, in a way it’s a role playing game that gives you a unique role to play.
But I’ve said enough.
