I think I’m ready to write my review now, after several hours of play. I’ve not finished all the campaigns, but I’ve got a fair way through them. I’ve tried out the other modes. So, yes, I think I’m ready.

Rental arrived from Lovefilm. Spent an hour or so with it and pretty much fell in love. I did the training, the prologue, then played through Chapter One a couple of times, then did the first time trial. (I didn’t do very well.)
It looks lovely and feels solid and correct. When you get it right and are running and jumping without pause, it’s exhilarating. When you fail, you want to try again.
If it doesn’t get too hard later on, this could be special.

My wife won the fishing tourney over the weekend. Violet, the giant gorilla, decided she wanted to be my Valentine. Forgot all about KK Slider on Saturday night. That sort of thing.

Hit a wall. First six missions of campaign were trivially easy, but I can’t work out how the heck I’m meant to do the seventh. The enemy just throws millions of units at me and I can’t survive to build up any forces. Oof.
Going to play a few Skirmishes to try and get better before trying again.

I really, really love this game, by the way. I love to get home and just spend twenty relaxing minutes or so wandering around McNulty. It’s a great way to unwind after the work day.

Got sent a copy of this to review for another site, so probably shouldn’t talk about it too much.
But I will say that after spending two or three hours doing the first five or six missions, it seems decent and there’s an awful lot of game for your money. Going to be tough to review, simply because it’s so huge.

Come on! We must have donated 200,000 to the town fund by now!
And where’s my Pikmin hat, Nintendo?
